Morgue services to go private

Fiji’s Ministry of Health will soon outsource its morgue facilities at major hospitals.

The ministry has called for expression of interests from local and overseas parties in taking over the old mortuary at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

Ministry spokesman Peni Namotu said apart from cutting costs, this will allow the CWMH to focus on its core functions of patient treatment and medical intervention.

Security and cleaning services have already been outsourced, with laundry and kitchen services to be next.
