POLICE have recovered explosives and a huge ammunitions cache from the house of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, as they upped the death toll from his attack to 59.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said officers raided his property in Mesquite, Nevada and found “in excess of 19 additional firearms, some explosives and several thousand rounds o

f ammo, along with some electronic devices we’re evaluating at this point.”

The bloodshed ended after police swarming the hotel closed in on the gunman, who shot and wounded a hotel security officer through the door of his two-room suite and then killed himself before police entered.

But the one thing they can’t determine yet is his motive.

Las Vegas police are still “working to process the crime scene from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and also investigate the motives of the shooter,” Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said.

“Detectives are combing through evidence to uncover the shooter’s motives and any other pertinent information that will help shed light on the Sunday night massacre.”

But Lombardo also told reporters: “We have no idea what his belief system was – I can’t get into the mind of a psychopath.”

So far, there are no links to international terrorism or whether he disliked the music artists at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

Members of his family are also stumped as to why he would commit such a heinous crime.

Their investigation continues, as they delve into his family’s past and his life in the sleepy retirement community of Mesquite.
